FINANCE NEWS

  • Eligible State Farm auto policyholders in Alabama will receive an average rebate of $114 as part of a $135 million dividend payout — available for policies in force as of Dec. 31, 2025 — with disbursements scheduled this summer.  1819 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • U.S. Census estimates show that between 2020 and 2024 (the latest data) some Alabama areas grew while others shrank; in Mobile County, 55% of tracts lost residents. Rapid growth occurred in a Pelham tract and near the University of South Alabama, while many rural counties saw declines.  AL.com

HEALTH NEWS

  • Thomas Hospital in Fairhope performed the state's first cryoablation procedure using IceCure to treat low-risk, early-stage breast cancer this week. The 30-minute treatment freezes tumors while patients stay awake, offering a less-invasive option approved by the FDA in Oct. 2025.  1819 News
  • State Rep. Jennifer Fidler introduced HB453 to ensure breast cancer survivors in Alabama receive timely reconstructive surgery without insurance delays.
