- ➤ Federal energy officials announced a record $26.5 billion loan to upgrade power plants in Georgia and Alabama, with Alabama Power set to receive $4.1 billion for building new natural gas facilities and improving transmission lines (aiming to lower customer rates). Alabama Public Radio

- ➤ Mobile County Commission will award a $7.48 million contract to Viking Dredge, LLC for the Salt Aire Shoreline Restoration Project in Theodore to protect property and restore marsh habitat. - ➤ Eligible Mobile loan borrowers are receiving settlement checks ranging from about $100 to $2,000 from a Navient agreement (administered by Rust Consulting); checks began arriving on Feb. 13. The settlement resolves claims that Navient pushed borrowers away from cheaper repayment plans. AL.com

- ➤ Baldwin County Commission secured $500K in federal funds for high-visibility beach safety markers at Fort Morgan access points, and the County (after meeting federal requirements) will design and install markers to aid emergency response. UTV 44
- ➤ The USNS Comfort has been at a Mobile shipyard since Jan. 23 and will stay through April for scheduled repairs, while the USNS Mercy left for the sea Tuesday after overdue fixes (tracking data confirms their status). Alabama Public Radio

- ➤ Gov. Ivey signed a bill that requires insurance companies to cover free prostate cancer screening for men over 50 and those at high risk, taking effect Oct. 1, and the law bears the names of cancer survivor David McElhaney and AL.com columnist Roy S. Johnson. AL.com
