- ➤ Alabama’s congressional delegation declared Mobile the birthplace of Mardi Gras on Oct. 13, 2025, noting the city held its first celebration in 1703 (73 years before the nation was formed). Lawmakers called the bipartisan resolution a tribute to Mobile’s enduring Carnival tradition. AL.com
- ➤ Ella Langley reached number one on the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts this week with her hit 'Choosin’ Texas', making her the first Alabama artist to top the Hot 100 in nearly 20 years and drawing local music fans’ attention. AL.com
- ➤ A 100-year-old WWII veteran, who has ridden on the Mystics of Time float for 50 years (a cherished local tradition), will join the ride this Saturday night in downtown Mobile while he says the float remains fun and exciting. UTV 44

- ➤ The Mobile Airport Authority ratified a lease Tuesday with International Aerospace Coatings, a deal planned to create roughly 700 jobs at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley. Lagniappe Daily

- ➤ On Jan. 23, 21 Bayside Academy eighth graders attended the 32nd Annual Alabama YMCA Junior Youth Legislature at the State House in Montgomery, where they debated bills and practiced civic leadership.
