  • The Alabama Coastal Foundation has opened registration and sponsorships for the 17th Annual Good Life Ride set for May 9 at Gulf State Park. The event (a nine-mile ride designed to raise bicycle safety awareness and promote community fun) requires sponsors to commit by noon on Thursday, April 9.  Gulf Coast Media

  • Gulf Shores and Orange Beach have been nominated for eight USA Today's 10 Best Readers' Choice Award categories, including Best Coastal Small Town and Best Small Town Arts Scene.   • A proposed solar farm tied to Meta Platforms is raising concerns among Stockton residents about local wetlands and endangered species. Local groups urge greater transparency + plan to discuss the project as it moves forward.  1819 News
  • The U.S. Forest Service has proposed opening nearly all of Conecuh National Forest for oil and gas drilling, raising concerns among conservationists and locals about potential impacts on wildlife and outdoor recreation.   • On Jan. 14, millions lost cellular service for 10 hours — prompting the FCC to begin a probe on Jan. 28 into Verizon’s handling of the outage. Customers have until March 16 to send in their feedback for potential penalties.  AL.com

  • On Saturday, Feb. 8, Alabama beat Auburn 96-92 with Labaron Philon Jr. scoring 25 points plus Amari Allen adding 17, while center Charles Bediako faced legal challenges over his eligibility after a judge granted a Temporary Restraining Order; head coach Nate Oats confirmed his scholarship remains regardless of the suit.  Alabama Public Radio
