CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Developers have repurposed the historic Ace Theatre into a 100-seat venue for the Excelsior Band’s jazz studio and education, with construction beginning later this year and reopening expected in 12 to 18 months. The county supports the project, which secured $3.5 million in tax credits (including $600,932 from the state). AL.com
- ➤ USS Farragut, this year’s Mardi Gras ship, arrives at Mobile Ship Channel on Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. for a celebration hosted by the Mobile Council of the Navy League, City officials, and the Alabama Port Authority.
