  • Frank N Lola's has opened a brick-and-mortar restaurant at 8887 Grand Bay Wilmer Road in Grand Bay. The restaurant serves its award-winning smashburgers and Mardi Gras treats with limited seating (customers can order online or by phone) to handle high demand.  AL.com

CULTURE NEWS

  • Developers have repurposed the historic Ace Theatre into a 100-seat venue for the Excelsior Band’s jazz studio and education, with construction beginning later this year and reopening expected in 12 to 18 months. The county supports the project, which secured $3.5 million in tax credits (including $600,932 from the state).  AL.com
  • USS Farragut, this year’s Mardi Gras ship, arrives at Mobile Ship Channel on Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. for a celebration hosted by the Mobile Council of the Navy League, City officials, and the Alabama Port Authority. Public tours run from Feb. 14 through Feb. 17 (marking a 100 year tradition).  1819 News
