  • Senior Bowl players visited USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital on Monday to boost spirits at the pediatric infusion suite.   • A concerned mother has recorded a speeding car narrowly missing her 15-year-old son at a school bus stop on Celeste Rd. in Citronelle, and the Mobile County Sheriff supports her call for tougher traffic safety enforcement.  NBC 15
  • A new multimillion-dollar allocation from BP oil spill settlement funds will jumpstart the first construction work on the 100-acre Brookley by the Bay park, with project officials saying work will begin soon in Mobile.  Lagniappe Daily

  • The University of South Alabama approved a student event where Generation Action hosted a sex toy bingo night at the Student Center last week + winners received novelty prizes. University officials confirmed student groups need not submit detailed agendas when scheduling events.  1819 News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fairhope City Council approved a resolution to protect Mobile Bay after citizens raised concerns about dredge material placement. State lawmakers plan bills so that 70% of dredge material is used beneficially, and council members said the resolution supports both economic growth and a healthy bay.  1819 News
  • The City of Mobile is inviting applications for the $50M economic development loan program to boost growth+ create jobs and encourage long-term investments. The Neighborhood Development Department will begin reviews on March 2, 2026 for eligible projects while higher education applications will be accepted on a rolling basis.  UTV 44

SPORTS NEWS

  • Alabama beat Missouri 90 to 64 on Tuesday, with Wrightsell scoring 21 points and hitting 7 three pointers in his best game yet. The team will travel to Florida on Sunday at 12 p.m. for their next game, which will be shown on ABC.  1819 News
  • St. Michael quarterback Gunner Rivers capped his junior season with Super All-State honors and led the Cardinals to a 13-1 record. His father (Philip Rivers), who coached the team, withdrew his NFL head coaching bid after a Bills interview.  Gulf Coast Media
